September 12, 2016 MEETING MINUTES
The 619th meeting of the Hope Rod and Gun Club was called to order at 7:03 PM by President Tom Downs. There were 24 members present.
Secretaries Report: Secretary Miller read the August 01 (618th) meeting minutes, hearing no additions or corrections, they were approved as read.
New Member: The following new member was approved for membership Mathew Schutte.
Members Director: Membership Director Jenkins reports 300 members are current.
Building and Grounds: Butch reported Members need to slow down on the newly surfaced driveway until it settles better. This will reduce the current ripples that are occurring.
Trap League: Mike Mann and Doug Job have reported they are reviewing 2016 trap season some changes are being discussed for Trap Fee collection to eliminate the burden on the bartenders.
Team Captains will be contacted to get Trap Trophies distributed.
Hunting and Fishing: Bow deer is open for sign up with other fall hunting sign ups in October. Mendota is reported quiet and 74 -76 degrees F. Monona in 40’ of water Gills are at about 15’. Waubesa is sporadic and some good night fishing is reported on Keagonsa.
Old Business: A motion was made by Jeff Krisher and seconded by Terry to change to LIME GREEN trap birds, motion carried on a hand vote 18-3.
President Downs reported the Club Picnic 45 members shot in the competition. The 2016 results were awarded trophies- Meiller - Kent Corning 70, Presidents – Dave Murray 67, Hope Kristi Kruehl 62, Ladies Lindsay Kruehl 24, Youth 16-17 Emily Torbleau 22, Youth 14-15 Josh Richardson 16 and Youth 12-13 Karah Thompson.
President Downs THANKED everyone that assisted with the Pig roasting, to BINGO, the trap competition and whoever helped make the day a great success.
Treasurer Birrenkott updated us on the Club Insurance situation, Our Agent is the same and local, we received two proposal quotes one from Westbend at $2,800.00 and Secura for $2,100 yearly after comparing the quotes Secura was chosen and paid just before the end of August as we needed to have coverage from a different carrier by August 30th. Birrenkott reported that it had been many years since the policy coverage was updated and numbers reflecting what we currently have on the property that needed coverage. We also were informed to maintain coverage that we would have to develop and pass several policies and submit them in the near future to our carrier. Be prepared a critical requirement is that we have a policy that states no members will consume alcohol prior to shooting.
President Downs reported that Vice President Hansen, Treasure Birrenkott and Secretary Miller will be working the rest of the year to update, create By-Laws and Policies to be presented for approval.
President Downs reported that we supported the American Legion Aux by donating $25.00 for hole sponsorship.
Members solicited feedback and comments regarding the trap microphone system replacement, members were advised to research, identify cost and present for approval.
Archery Supervisor Paul Peters stated some work is needed to update and upkeep the archery range, he will communicate with some primary users for assistance.
Pistol Range Fun nights will be Tuesday nights in September and October.

50/50 Winner: Stan Nichols won the 50/50.
