The 627th meeting of the Hope Rod and Gun Club was called to order at 7:05 PM by President Tom Downs. There were 30 members present.
Joan Kamholtz from Justice for a Cure spoke to the club about the “Shoot the hell out of cancer” fundraiser they had 31 participants they also had a very positive response which made the event a huge success. Joan presented the club with a Thank You and a college of pictures. It was motioned and approved to get a frame for the college.
New Members: The following 10 new members were approved as new members they are Shawn Gardner, Jessica Wegner, Jonathon Yoel, Tom Burday, Steve Roanhaus, Craig Levenick, Kennan Stoker, Sara Levenick, Andrew Johnson, Billy Winner.
Members Director: Membership Director Russ Jenkins reported that as to the date of this meeting 360 members are on the membership list of which 30 are new members, 34 have not paid their 2017 dues.
Building and Grounds: President Downs reported that 35 people signed in for the clean-up day April 8th. He THANKED THOSE MEMBERS VERY MUCH for a very productive day along with the most members ever showing up to work.
Trap League: Trap Directors Mike Mann and Doug Job reported the following, 31 full teams for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Team Captains are to have teams check score sheets for any errors and report them immediately. They also reiterated the Alcohol policy regarding no beers before shooting. Also, no Trap the week of July 4th.
Also, a reminder to all members that Monday afternoons from 3pm to 9 pm skeet will be going on and all are invited to participate. A BIG Reminder that pistol range and area west of Skeet trap is closed during skeet and the chain gates should be up during skeet.
Hunting and Fishing: Nothing to report its slow and the water temp is chilly yet at 57°F. Mendota you can find Catfish by Nautigals. Waubesa the crappies have shut down. Lake Keagonsa netted a bunch of Carp that were shipped to New York. Don’t forget to sign up for the fishing contest.
Raffle: Vice President Mark Hanson reported the club and youth clay busters raffle tickets are available at the meeting and on league nights at the club. All members are encouraged to try to sell 10 tickets each. The guns were selected at Cabela’s, we do not take ownership the guns. Each gun is valued and the winner can take the said gun or a different gun with the value being applied or having instore credit for other merchandise. The same is for other items purchased at Walmart having gift receipts. The drawing will be at the Mark Mark Memorial Chicken shoot on July 22, 2017 at 4pm.
Mark Birrenkott stated that he will be sending out a request for workers for Sunday Open Public shoot from 9am to 1pm, stay tuned for requests for assistance and the sign up calendar.
Frank W. motioned to change the July meeting date to July 10th to not interfere with July 4th, seconded by Sgt. of Arms Jeremiah Dollar. The motion passed on a voice vote.
President Tom Downs reported that the pistol range is receiving some errant shooting. DO NOT SHOOT DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE TARGET RANGE.
We still have some painting and projects to complete, Miller will try to schedule some work time for members to help complete.
Steve Stoker moved to allocate $800.00 for trees on the berm, seconded by Jeremiah Dollar. President Down stated that he was aware of sales currently at Menards, discussion was about what type of tree to purchase. Miller stated he has a contact with the City of Madison Forrester and will reach out to her for advice. The motion carried on a voice vote.
