The 615th meeting of the Hope Rod and Gun Club was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Tom Downs. There were 41 members present.
Secretaries Report: Secretary Miller read the April 4th (614th) meeting minutes, hearing no additions or corrections, they were approved as read.
Treasurers Report: NOT AVAILABLE ONLINE
New Members: The following new members were approved for membership DeLon Wilson, Jeffery Harms, Rex Hooper, Ethan Pysk, Steve Checki, Steve Katzner, Keith Forst, Ken Landolt and Jerry Morre.
Members Director: Membership Director Jenkins reports 300 members have paid their 2016 membership. Some unpaid members will be removed this month and reported in June.
Building and Grounds: Butch has fine tuned and serviced traps 1 and 2. Club house and berm work continues.
Trap League: Mike Mann and Doug Job have 2 weeks of score sheets ready to go. Team Captains need to sign bottom right corner of score sheets.
Hunting and Fishing: Spring Turkey Contest sign up for $5.00 and fishing contest is $5.00 your participation is encouraged. Mendota is reporting good cat fishing on the North end. Monona slow and Lake Waubesa was reported at 48F yesterday.
Raffle: Mark Hanson reported the second annual raffle is officially open for business and the drawing will be at the Mark Mark Memorial chicken shoot July 23rd. Tickets are $10.00 with a bigger variety of prizes.
Old Business: Nominations for Sgt. Of Arms was opened to the floor. Scott Miller nominated Scott Wagner which was seconded by Jeff Haven. Nominations from the floor was called 3 times, A motion to close the nominations from the floor and cast a unanimous ballot for Scott Wagner for the office of Sgt. Of Arms, motion seconded and motion passed unanimously on a voice vote.
President Downs reported the April 16th spring clean-up was very productive, thank you to the many members that helped.
Sunday Public Shooting club representatives, Mark Birrenkot reports that he has only 8 spots to open to fill the schedule.
RSO: Tom wanted to thank Dick Lyons and Jeff Harms for creating the pistol range rules for RSO’s and members to follow. In brief the document will be emailed to everyone, only hand guns, centerfire rifles that shoot pistol calibers will be allowed at the pistol range.
If there are two RSO’s on duty on Sundays and an RSO is willing the rifle range may be opened.
PLEASE REMEMBER….Safety Safety at all times. Also in the future members will have to sign the range rules for each aspect of the range to be allowed to shoot.
President Downs handed out RSO hats to the following members, Senior RSO Lee Hutson, Mike Linn, Rick Pinson, Don Schneider, Richard Lyons, Terry Hanneman and “ZZ” James Zradicka. Congrats RSO’s.
The pistol range rules presented tonight are a work in progress with some technical changes in the near future may be needed. Mike Mann moved and Scott Wagner seconded the range rules as presented tonight be approved. Much discussion was had, with the jest of the rules being safety and common sense orientated which is current practice. The motion passed unanimously on a voice vote.
Hunter safety is schedule for July 11th thru the 15th. With Ron Sam, you can sign up online thru the DNR website.
Tom reported that Pat Babcock has sold the acreage around the 4 acre easement recently, Tom thanked Pat for selling us the 4 acre easement we needed. Tom will report back in June on how and if the sale affects us.
Tom also polled membership present regarding a sporting goods garage sale at the club, interest was limited, it was suggested to consider using a page on the website for this idea.
The Third Annual Mark Mark Memorial chicken shoot will be July 23rd 2016 stay tuned for more information.
Skeet shooting has started from 1pm to 7pm on Mondays for more information contact Tom Castree.
